Our beautiful new moon happens tonight on May 26th at 11:01 p.m. EST, within the Tropical zodiac of Gemini and within the lunar mansion, or nakshatra, of Rohini in the Sidereal zodiac. New moons are unions, a marriage of Sun and Moon, the two beloveds, where each month they meet within a lunar mansion where they share their night together.

When two worlds meet, they touch, they kiss. They retreat within their bedchambers in their private emotional lover’s cocoon, and of their energy of love and light they then infuse and illuminate the earthly soils also. When planets meet within a lunar mansion, something will be nurtured and born; and to understand that, we need to understand both the union and the mansion of creation. Just like a flower. A seed is a seed, but the soils matter, the nurturing matters, and of that the release of the fragrance will be made.

We don’t see a new moon with our eyes – but our lunar maiden is very much there. She has retreated in the bedchambers with her beloved Sun – all his to be illuminated by his light, to be seen by him in her entirety; and he too is deeply in joy for his maiden is finally all to him, all to himself. Within that privacy of their union they create a powerful energy that then infuses our lights also. This is why new moons are often associated with new beginnings, though for each person individually it may not always be that case; whether or not it marks a new beginning, or a continuation of something already in bloom, depends on your natal moon phase.

In general, on the collective, new moons relate to passion, love, beauty, inspiration, a clarity moving forward and an opportunity for a new beginning, whether emotionally, spiritually or physically. New moons create beautiful energies full of wonder, sparkle and radiance. In the days prior, as the lovers Sun and Moon make their way to each other in union, there is also a quietness here also; a feeling of a pulling into and pulling towards, a desire, and a retreat, shifting our eyes inward as we await for that which we may only feel with our subtle senses. And in the days following the new moon, as the moon begins to reveal herself in our eyes, and skies, we begin to see more clearly the unfolding of the union.

As above so below. One of our earliest roses blooms in this time of year when the Sun enters Rohini, and she is actually the most fragrant and sweetest of all. Her beautiful intoxicating scent is truly the sweetest, so alluring, and stays within you even after you’ve walked away. Her leaves are lush, green, velvety, and her petals too are velvet like in touch; her colour – a most sensual fuchsia.

I’ve been watching her lately, in the past few days, and we would see her buds ready. When the Sun entered Rohini one of her first buds opened slightly, and today when the Moon too entered Rohini she opened herself a bit more revealing her beauty and offering herself to us. Within the next week, as the Moon too begins revealing herself in her crescent waxing phase, the rose will bloom in her entirety. I’ve included photos below of her blooming, and will be updating these, so that you see how beautiful she is. The benefic nature of Rohini is evident here in our new moon today, as we see the fertile energy of this nakshatra and her ability to help everything flourish and ascend.

When the Sun entered Rohini – the buds are now seen, they are growing more as she is nurturing herself and preparing for full bloom in couple of weeks

When the Moon joined the Sun in Rohini today a few hours before our New Moon May 26th – she is beginning to open up slightly, though still keeping herself in her sacred private sensitive lover’s cocoon

Updated May 28th: The Moon is now visible in the sky, out of the bedchambers with her Sun’s union, and the beautiful rose is beginning to open up in her bloom also

When the Moon is now in her waxing crescent growing phase, our rose is in her full bloom, at the time when the Sun is in the heart of Rohini which happens in the first week of June. The Moon’s growing fertile phase is infusing all with the energy of fertility, abundance, love and beauty

Rohini is known as the favourite nakshatra of the Moon, as Rohini was the favourite wife of god Moon Chandra in Vedic astrology. He was always so enchanted by her and her alluring and magnetic beauty that he would barely leave her lunar mansion to go to other wives and nakshatras. Rohini carries the shakti, or feminine energy, of rohana shakti, whose power of growth and creation.

Rohini gives us the beautiful feminine power of creation and beauty and unions with those we love, and her energy allows for growth and creation on all levels, bestowing great fertility and creativity. As she was the favourite wife of Chandra, all other wives felt jealous by her. In the same way, Rohini energy may often evoke jealousy from others because of her beauty, allure, talents and magnetism, and so she needs to protect herself and know how to set healthy boundaries. Just like our rose.

You see, this particular rose has a lot of thorns, many of them not visibly seen as they are so tiny. One needs to approach her with the respect she deserves, otherwise you may not get close to her and you’ll certainly feet the tiny sharp thorns piercing your fingers. With this we are also reminded that we can’t trap nor steal someone’s beauty neither. We can desire it, want to possess it, hold it, have it only for ourselves, but we must control our lower urges and be in humility to it, and we must realize it needs its freedom, just like love too has its essence in freedom.

We may let beauty inspire us, open us, soften us, and allow its fragrance to move through us. We may become its hands, its lips, its movements as we choose to embody it consciously and responsibly. And as we embody love and beauty, this inspires others also. When we give forth kindness this leaves a fragrance; when we touch someone’s hands tenderly this tenderness stays with them for long after we’ve unheld their hands, and hopefully, they choose to touch others’ hands tenderly also. This is the fragrance of the sweetest rose.

There are different shapes and forms of love, various speeds and movements. Love unfolds through patience, joy, kindness, tenderness, compassion, grace, and many others, and all are purposeful. But when we embody it, we become it. We become the beauty, the loving, the fragrance itself. This is union, this is yoga.

When the dancer becomes the dance itself, the poet the poem, the one kissing and being kissed becomes the kiss itself, love becomes loving.

Rohini is the deity personification of fixed star Aldebaran, the brightest star in the Taurus constellation. Aldebaran is a red star found in the eye of the bull, and one of our brightest ones in our sky; and Rohini itself means “red girl”. This part of the sky is associated with fertility, material abundance, creativity, sensuality, beauty and art, and strong magnetic energy.

Rohini is ruled by the Moon, which is part of the Brahma trimurti, and Saraswati devi, so this isn’t merely about beauty and immense creativity, but it is also about spiritual and intuitive development. Dreams, intuitive and inspired creativity can be quite heightened now also.

Brahma is the one who creates the dream, and here with this new moon you are creating a dream. This means there is responsibility one must carry and hold sacredly in what they choose to create. What are we choosing to create? When we create consciously, much beauty and love may continue to exist. Desire pulls us and it’s purposeful, but know thyself is the beginning of the path always, and the foundations upon which all will be coming from us into fruition.

In the Tropical zodiac the new moon happens in the 6.05 degree of Gemini, carrying the Sabian symbol of the old water well. Within our unique inner wildlands there is a sacred secret water well. There is our connection to God. There we go to nourish and nurture ourselves, and to build our strong spiritual core. There is quietness and sacredness, because we are within the temple of God, and under his dome things are more quiet; we learn to listen also. There we also understand that some things are yet unwritten.

In this deep part of ourselves to go to reconnect with our true self and to strengthen our spiritual core; to know who we are, and to come into our true authentic self, to know our values, our intentions, and what matters to us most deeply. In this place is where we must be really honest with ourselves, because this is what our creations will be based on.

We go in that well to renew and recharge our energy also, and connect to the source of life. There is self renewal as much as there is a simple organic integrity. Purity of heart, clarity of mind, sincerity in action are our magic three. Walking in virtue is what defines us. And all these essentially build our character. When the water within us clear, we’ll touch more purely also.

The closer we are to God the quieter it becomes. The more we need to listen also, so that we may hear our heart speak. We will hear the voice from the bottom of the well also, the ancient wisdoms and mystical secrets. And we will tune into our body, into our natural flow and rhythm, as well as deepen into our humility of divine timing also and the cycles of the land. As it says in Ecclesiastes 3, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”

New Moon May 26th 2025, 11:01 pm EST, Toronto, Canada

Moon conjunct Sun in Rohini nakshatra, near Aldebaran in the celestial Taurus constellation; the Moon has just transited over the open star cluster Pleiades, known for its blue hue aura and benefic nature, and she has entered the lunar mansion of Rohini a few hours ago

Venus is moving along through Revati nakshatra, and traveling east towards the union of the two streams of the fish, symbolizing our celestial guidance towards compassion, humanity and love without ends; Saturn and the North Node are currently in the nakshatra Uttara Bhadrapada at the tail of the great wise whale Cetus. Both Venus and Saturn are harmoniously supporting our New Moon.

At the same time of the new moon, we have Saturn and the North Node at the tip of the tail of the great wise whale Cetus in our sky; while Venus flows along the stream of the river near the Revati star. The process of creation often invites us to learn the power and purpose of the waiting phases, of surrender and of trust. There is quietness sometimes when we can’t yet see what has been forming and merging within the wild unknowns or undergrounds, in the moist soil where fertility is; but when the time is right, its hands will reach through the soil for merging, tempted by water, tempted by air, and we’ll see it.

There are clocks beyond our human made clocks, and there, time is unclockable, unstrikeable by us. Divine timing has its clocks, its own rhythm, it’s own divine order. When we are on the whale’s tale we learn to trust; when we are in the stream of the river, we learn to trust the flow. When we can’t see the shore or even that we are on a wave within a sea or ocean, we still come to learn we are still always held by something greater than us.

This is what Saturn on that tail teaches us through the wisdom of the celestial whale. We rest in stillness of eternity. A silence anchors the world. We learn to listen. Pauses are important, especially when something new will soon begin and be seen like the fuchsia petals of the sweetest rose.

Venus too reminds us of surrender and trust in the unfolding of our life. Within that part of the sky where she is currently traveling, she is essentially moving towards unity. She guides our soul towards our home of heart, towards love, towards compassion, towards kindness, towards faith, towards purpose, towards remembering our humanity and inspiring to be better people.

The higher spiritual purpose of Rohini is that beauty saves the world. Beauty isn’t just a thing of our five senses, as our five senses each carry a spiritual purpose and understanding. Touch is not just a physical touch, it is how we touch others through our words and gestures. What kind of taste or fragrance do you leave others through your movements and speech; what eyes do you have and what perspectives do we absorb through. Not everyone has the eyes to see beauty, to recognize goodness, to see what’s still there while acknowledging what isn’t anymore. Not everyone has the awakened eyes of heart to perceive spiritual wisdom. The eyes behind the eyes are the ones that can see true beauty.

When aligned to virtue and strong spiritual core, when aligned to the purity of heart, clarity of mind and sincerity of action and of hands, our creations too become vessels and bodies of love. When something is created of purity, a love energy moves through it and touches the hearts of others, inspires others also to create and dance in their own unique authentic ways. Beauty softens us. It softens our skins, opens our palms, opens our hearts and our minds. And the softer we are, the more open we are, the more love we may receive and the more spiritual wisdom we may realize. The awakened heart is the love heart.
