“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under Heaven.” ~ Ecclesiastes 3, 1-8

Everything in life is a relationship. We are in a continuous relationship with other people, with ourselves, with nature, and even our feet are in a relationship with the streets upon which we walk. To think that relationships are only those related to a traditional intimate relationship between two people is a bit more of a teenager-like mentality, which we need to mature out of. A monk too is in a marriage he has entered – with the church, his faith; and he is continuously in relationship with the other monks.

There are many ways to experience ourselves, and to grow through the art of shared relationship love, which comes in many shapes and forms. Ultimately, all relationships serve a purpose: self knowledge. Acting as mirrors, reflections, in whatever way, shape or form, our relationship to the otherness, and how we experience ourselves through that allows us an opportunity for a deepening.

Some people walk a more spiritual path of life, where only the depth of spiritual relationships may fulfill them. For some it may mean that they seek dharmic solitude, or that even if they desire a romantic intimate relationship with a person, they would only feel fulfilled through a deeper emotional and spiritual connection, what many may call a soulmate relationship, which aligns to their inner self and path of life.

Other people need more of a traditional marriage for their soul growth, or need many relationships through life, or have to balance their relationships karmas in whatever shape or form. Some people may only grow and evolve through the help of romantic relationships and the reflections and experiences of this, which would ultimately help them meet their shadow self, so naturally, for their soul growth, they will be experiencing this path. Some people may only learn devotion and inner knowledge through another person or a marriage. Other people may already have balanced a lot of their relationship karmas, or are already doing their inner work, so they may not need as many relationships to help them come into inner harmony and inner union.

Some flowers live within the sacred garden; others need the sacred temple of the wild places, to bloom beautifully and release their most natural sweetest scent. All serve the divine plan perfectly.

Each path is purposeful, there is no right or wrong. Some flowers need gardens to bloom beautifully, others love their wild and need their wilderness. Some people are here to build castles and towers, others need to keep sacred the temples in the wild places. Some people are here to broadcast wisdom, others are here to be found. All flowers, both from gardens and from the wild, essentially serve the divine plan perfectly.

Today I’ll guide you through some of the planetary combinations and aspects pointing that a spiritual path rather than traditional marriage may be more aligned to you, but please remember, each is a purposeful path. Every soul’s path is unique and divinely orchestrated to serve your spiritual growth and service to humanity.

And when I say spiritual paths, I don’t necessarily mean someone spending their life in reclusion or a monastery. Many people born with spiritual yogas, such as sanyasa yoga, or moksha yogas, are artists, writers, musicians, architects, mystics of life and lovers of life; many of them have many love affairs, but ultimately, deeply, what fulfills them is a union with a creation, where they give their all and entire self, every single part of themselves, to something deeper than skin.

This is the musician, rock singer, who passionately pours his everything on paper and on stage. This is the poet, or dancer, who offers her entire body be consumed by the mysticism of the divine inspiration; this is the creator who continuously brings spirit into matter, and shapes things that inspire all others around him.

These are all people who have deep inner spiritual lives, and you may not ever even know about it, but oceans of oceans within oceans live inside of them and this their nature. And such people, cannot suffice with a “normal” relationship; they need a different kind of depth, while also, they need freedom; and someone who understands their need for occasional solitude where they will retreat into their mystical cocoon; there, they may create as they need, pray as they need, day dream as they need. There are many spiritual paths, and each person has their own way, their own rhythm and movement.

A lot of these spiritual aspects are also often connected to creativity. I recently watched a documentary about a very famous and talented architect, whose work was truly unique, as he didn’t just design buildings – within his spaces was almost a reflection of the movement of nature, of all outside the building.

He had a deep rich inner spiritual life and connection, and we see this often in many talented creatives: they have deep spiritual lives. It is this connection within them that then allows for inspired creativity to flow through them, and with their skills and talents they shape art, whether through words, paint brushes or structures, into something that touches people’s hearts and moves them in a loving, inspiring way.

Relationship wise, if you have some of these more spiritual aspects and planetary alignments, the right person for you would be someone to whom you share a deeper emotional and spiritual connection to. Otherwise, you may not feel fulfilled. If the aspects involve the South Node, it is about detaching yourself from expectations about the relationship and partner, and releasing your own attachments and extreme desires.

The way to work with your South Node is a healthy way is to approach it through the “I don’t know”, and focus your wisdom and love towards humanitarian or creative pursuits, or anything, outside relationships, that makes you feel fulfilled, happy, and which truly matters to you most deeply in life.

The Spiritual Wisdom

Before we dive into the aspects, let us briefly understand the spiritual wisdom behind why some people may remain unmarried, marry later in life, have waiting phases or time of celibacy, or find fulfillment only through deeper spiritual connections such as soulmate like relationships.

According to ancient wisdom and Vedic astrology texts, some souls incarnate with moksha yoga or certain planetary combinations indicating that the soul’s primary focus in this life is on liberation rather than traditional relationships. These natives often find deeper fulfillment in spiritual pursuits rather than domestic life or traditional marriage roles.

In many mystical and religion beliefs as well we see this. For example, in Christian mysticism remaining “single” is actually often seen as a blessing, because this means there is a specific higher calling or spiritual path that you are on, for the service to humanity. It’s often a time seen as a blessing, so that you may have the time to be focused on what matters to you most deeply and your spiritual or creative pursuits and passions, rather than needing to be more fully focused on domestic life and its responsibilities.

As I said in the beginning, you are not in essence, “single”, but your relationship is just not a “traditional” one. Many people may not understand this, as our societies often project their own fears, insecurities, conditioned belief systems and ways of life onto others.

Being consciously single, and being happy, shows spiritual maturity. It shows that you no longer need to recycle old karmas and patterns, and that you are already doing your inner work, so you don’t need constant mirroring or learning lessons through others. When you are able to sit in love within the quiet temple, in silence, you meet the divine and deepen in that connection, and you realize you are never single. Out of this space of inner fulfillment, naturally, the only relationship you would ever even consider, if desired by you, would be with someone who feels like a soulmate, i.e. someone within whom you share deeper emotional and spiritual bond with.

In mystical, esoteric and spiritual astrology beliefs, some souls are on their higher soul evolution, i.e. they have completed a lot of their relationship karmas in previous lifetimes; so in this incarnation, their focus is more on their continuing and nurturing their spiritual evolution. In their adolescence, or until their Saturn return, they may still go through some karmic relationships, and some may feel quite intense; but usually in their 30s, when their Navamsa, soul chart, also activates, and the South Node threads of relationship karma is more dissolved, they just enter a whole new space alined to their spiritual wisdom and passions.

They may also be called towards higher service, sharing their wisdom and spiritual knowledge with others, becoming healers and astrologers, and expressing their creativity. Their time of meaningful solitude, or not being in a traditional relationship, is purposeful, because they need to have the time and space to share these gifts with others and evolve further on the spiritual path their soul desired.

Some people have strong 12th house placements, so their path of life is more focused on living in reclusion, retreat, finding peace in solitude, or ashrams and monasteries. Such natal charts with strong 12th house often indicate the soul’s readiness for transcendence beyond material attachments, and a certain need for surrender and trust in the divine. Sometimes, depending on the planets, the natives do indeed have deep desires for romantic relationships, but they have karmic things to work out on their own, to heal and to mature, which is why they may face disconnect, disappointment, hurt, unrequited love, or like they can’t quite find the right person.

If a native has already balanced their relationships karma, naturally they wouldn’t really need to experience relationships; but there will be peace within them. They don’t go after looking for a partner from a space of emptiness or need or desperation; and if they desire to share their life with someone, it’s only with a soulmate. But they are perfectly comfortable in their own life as is.

On the other hand, if someone is experiencing deep pain or longing or need for relationships, while just not finding the right person, then that’s a different thing. It usually may show there are some karmic threads, and healing and inner work that needs to be done; the lesson usually relates to self worth, and a need for maturity.

There is also a thing called dharmic celibacy, which relates to life purpose alignment. Ancient texts describe dharmic celibacy, as a sacred conscious decision, where remaining unmarried and consciously celibate allow complete dedication to the native’s higher calling and higher purpose, serving the divine and humanity. This often means that native moves into the fields of spiritual guidance and teaching, healing, spiritual service, or creative contributions to humanity, such as writing, music, architecture, etc. These souls serve the collective rather than individual family units.

Vedic science, and basically all mystical beliefs, speak of the importance of sexual energy, which is creative and life force energy. When one masters this, and is in conscious celibacy, one purifies and channels the power of this sacred energy into its higher manifestation and expression.

When sexual energy is properly and consciously applied, harnessed and redirected towards spiritual and/or creative pursuits, it transforms into its most purified form, or in Vedic texts called it transforms into “ojas”. Ojas means vitality, essence, strength. It creates spiritual vitality that enhances intuition, creativity, and divine connection; and physically, it relates to health and wellbeing and looking youthful far into old age. It also makes the native have purity in their energy, and it’s almost like a sweet scent arises from their skin.

Many saints and sages followed this path for heightened consciousness. Harnessing sexual energy creates a path to spiritual evolution and growth, and can speed up that process, but only when it’s done consciously; suppression never leads anywhere good. For those truly more advanced in their spiritual evolution, dharmic celibacy and harnessing their sexual energy feels natural.

They no longer hold themselves captive to lower urges or desires, and there is a sense of inner harmony and liberation they are just naturally aligned to and understand. They don’t feel lack. They feel deep desires – but these desires are towards something beyond flesh; a fire burning bright, continuous, never ending and powerful, not just one that is temporary. It’s the fire within their own soul that has made them into the union with the greater fires, and they have the ability to feel in bliss even without anything external.

The Planetary Combinations and Aspects

Some aspects and planetary combination, according to ancient astrology text, do indeed point that traditional marriage may not be the right path for the native, because they may just not find the fulfillment they seek on an inner spiritual level.

Please keep in mind these are only a few, and very general; it all depends on your own unique chart and evolutionary path. These relate to the natal chart, but you would need to look at your divisional charts also, mainly your D9 chart.

Strong 12th house emphasis show focus on moksha and spiritual pursuits. This usually shows a path where the native may not be in traditional or long term fulfillment relationships, at least for some period of time.

If the aspects to and planets residing in the 12th house are Venus and/or Jupiter, the native may find deeper fulfillment in spiritual retreats, far away lands, monasteries or ashrams, meaningful solitude, deepening their spiritual practice, work or their connection to spiritual self, because they are essential seeking moksha.

Here the native is seeking to feel deeply connected to the divine through the silence and stillness, and opening their heart through their spiritual life and times of solitude. Their priority in this life becomes detachment and finding inner peace and liberation.

Planetary conjunctions such as the South Node with the Moon or Venus may also show a life path of detachment from traditional relationships, and a need to understand the more spiritual aspects of love and relationships; it’s about deepening of self knowledge, releasing expectations and embracing a more surrendered, selfless and giving aspect of love.

Developing spiritual and emotional maturity may help with your relationships with other people, otherwise a sense of emptiness and loneliness may often be felt by you. There is a need to heal emotional attachments and patterns, release or balance out a certain level of karma related to relationships, and detach from expectations in love relationships; to be more giving and present for your partners, and to not fixate on relationships too much in your life, because the lesson here is mainly detachment.

Something I’ve seen in my clients over and over again, throughout my professional practice of over ten years, is the connection to fixed star Deneb in the Cygnus constellation, the swan, which is found in the early degrees of Tropical Pisces. When this star is conjunct the Ascendant especially, it may sometimes show the native enters in a marriage, but at some point finds themselves living a life not theirs and seeking liberation from the marriage.

The two partners may outgrow each other spiritually, and the Deneb native may feel like they are not living a fainter version of themselves; like a swan maiden they seek to re-connect to the wild nature, and find their swan feathers and wings, releasing themselves in a world more connected to their true inner essence, the freedom of spirit and seek back their home in nature and the wild.

They may sometimes feel their partner no longer understands them, or they feel entrapped, or like they’ve sacrificed a part of who they truly are to live a life that doesn’t feel true to them anymore. They may feel that they are more focused on seeing the beauty of life, on what truly matters, while they partner may be stuck in materialism or rigid perspectives. Eventually, life may call them to re-claim their inner voice and honour the truth of their heart’s calling.

To experience more fulfilling relationships, it’s important for these natives to make conscious choices and be emotionally self honest. Choose a partner whom you feel connected to emotionally, and who sees you for the real you; and you yourself must be able to be honest about who you truly are, what your needs are, so that you create a mutual space of belonging rather than feeling like you are living a life not yours, and not being authentically yourself. Honesty is key, as well as self awareness and spiritual growth.

The South Node in the 1st or 7th house is a past life karmic indication related to relationships. Natives with these placements may feel emotional disconnect in their relationship, and that’s mainly because there is a deep longing for spiritual connection.

Traditional marriage roles may not feel fulfilling, and the native may feel disconnection from their partner. What they need to feel fulfilled is a spiritual connection, so that there is mutual deeper understanding of one another and supports their overall path of life.

As the 1st and 7th are cardinal axis of the chart, relationships will be very important for their soul evolution, and at the foundation of their life’s experience; and here, the main spiritual lessons are learning balance and harmony with another, learning interdependence, deepening in self knowledge, maturing emotionally and spiritually through their relationships.

Natal Jupiter connections to the South Node, and/or Saturn, point towards spiritual pursuits and spiritual practices. The South Node with Jupiter conjunctions show a non traditional path of life, which is often deeply spiritual, and the native may often be mainly interested on their inner development and spiritual growth.

The connection between Jupiter and Saturn may indicate that the native’s main devotion or loyalty lies towards their spiritual learning and expansion in the fields of higher knowledge and study, or teaching, philosophy and publishing.

Saturn in the 7th house with strong Jupiter, such as Jupiter in the 9th house, often shows a dharmic path, where the native has a higher calling to service humanity through sharing their knowledge and wisdom gained from many lives.

With a strong Jupiter in the 9th house, the native holds wisdom gained in many lives, though perhaps it wasn’t shared publicly as much. So in this life, they are here to shine and share their wisdom for all. There are inclinations towards deepening spiritual wisdom, scriptures, higher learning, publishing, teaching and expansion on all levels; the 9th house is also our spiritual body, so the native seeks to expand further on their spiritual path and evolve.

With the Saturn in their 7th house, this further strengthens the importance of their dharmic path, sharing their wisdom and knowledge, because the 7th house deals with the public, and as a cardinal house, with Saturn being the spiritual teacher supporting us in our spiritual maturity, the natives may have important work in this life serving a higher calling contributing to humanity in some shape or form.

With such a placement, Saturn in the 7th and a strong Jupiter, this is dharmic path, and marriage is not denied, but it will be most likely with someone whom they feel connected to like a soulmate. Their soulmate usually comes later on their life, and also supports their life’s work and higher calling. It may be someone wise and mature, and it is important that the native here sets higher standards and doesn’t stay in relationships that are not supportive nor mature nor aligned on a deeper emotional and spiritual level.

Saturn in the natal 7th house often acts as divine protection, and I’ve shared on that many times before. What may often feel like delay is often divine protection from incompatible partnerships. Saturn ensures that you don’t settle for less than your soul’s true match, and with time and maturity, you may indeed meet your soulmate. This is the blessing Saturn offers on his devotional path.

If in the Navamsa chart, the native keeps a strong Jupiter, like a Jupiter on their Navamsa ascendant, marriage is promised and will be supportive and spiritually blessed. It shows spiritual blessings, and a destined marriage based on higher truth and soul alignment, supportive to the native’s higher path.

Saturn influencing relationships often calls the native to set higher standards in relationships and not stay in situations not good for them. Patience and spiritual maturity are needed, so don’t feel discouraged if you have longing for a true soul marriage; it happens in its divine timing with the right person.

The South Node in the 5th house with Jupiter in the 12th house may show inclinations towards a devotional path, such as Bhakti, spiritual seclusion, religious pursuits or celibacy. The native may often desire moksha with these placements, and they may feel they may reach moksha through celibacy, so most times, they will go through longer phases of celibacy and remaining single by choice. A marriage may only happen in a fulfilling way if it is spiritual and on a soul level, rather than traditional or with traditional roles.

With the South Node in the 5th house the native may have some relationship karma, unfinished love relationships from the past, and may feel a sense of being abandoned. The key here is to learn to give more than you take, to love as much as you can, and not attach expectations or hold expectations when you give love to someone. It’s about learning to love without attachment, and to love even when it’s not easy; to love for the sake of loving, rather than what the other person may give you in turn.

The Hidden Blessings and Divine Timing of Marriage Later in Life

And just a few words on the so-called late marriage; and I say “so-called”, because timing is always right, there’s no such thing as “late”.

The first thing I’d like to say is that if you indeed, deep within your core, feel a desire for marriage, and always have, then you need to know that it’s because you are meant to experience and so in time, in the right time, you will.

Trust is one of our most important lessons in this life. To learn it, we move through it and experience ourselves through the not knowing, through the waiting phases, through the times of no predictions and no stability of the knowing exactly when and how and with whom. This is how you build trust in yourself and strengthen your spiritual core.

If that desire is so sweet and deep within you, it’s a treasure, a dessert, and you will sweetly indulge in it in its divine timing and order. This is why it’d taste even better than you ever imagined, and why the satisfaction will be deeper and more fulfilling. As long as you are on your true path in life, aligned to your higher self, aligned to your inner truth and essence, all that’s meant for you will find you; it’s inevitable.

Each person’s path is unique to them. For some, the spiritual purpose of the later marriage is the soul’s desire and need for individual growth before their destined partnership. Saturn’s influence on various aspects of your chart may ensure that you develop self reliance, value yourself, deepen in emotional maturity, and clear your’s life direction in its best and highest path before you share your path with another soul. So with Saturn’s influence, there is a cosmic wisdom aligning you, with divine timing.

For other people, the reason for late marriage may be spiritual growth, so the years prior to marriage serve as cosmic preparation time. Such period allows these natives to understand themselves more deeply, heal past patterns, establish career foundation, and develop the wisdom needed for the long term healthy and fulfilling relationship they seek.

And yet it’s not always just about you. Sometimes your destined partner is also undergoing their own growth journey, and they too may have certain things they desired on a soul level to do on their own, like growing their business, emotionally maturing to be able to meet you where you are, or finding their true authentic path to match you on a spiritual level also.

To meet your soulmate you must first meet your soul, i.e. you need to walk your true path in life. In this way of truth and love, the universe will cross your paths when both of you emotionally, spiritually and practically ready for your conscious union and partnership. The maturity you’ve both gained through your individual life experiences essentially creates a stronger foundation and supports deeper harmony and connection.

Many people are in relationships but not happy. They stay out of loneliness, lack, emptiness, fear, habit. They stay with people not good for them, because often they think this is what love is and what they deserve as treatment. It’s not about being a relationship – it’s about being in the right relationship for you.

Ancient texts emphasize that marriage timing matters less than marriage quality. They remind us that it isn’t about quantity, it is about quality. A seemingly delayed but harmonious union brings more fulfillment than an early but challenging one. Divine timing ensures you attract the right person, rather than just any person. The key is always within; and once you align to your inner truth, you will no longer choose to spend your time and energy with those not good for you.

Every step of our path is purposeful, and beautiful in its unique way. Trust yourself, trust your path, and trust the divine unfolding of your life. In its right time, all comes to you. As rivers flow to sea, what is will always be. What’s meant for you will always find you, no matter where you are. In this quiet knowing of your heart, settle in wisdom and joy of gratitude for all the beauty yet to come.

There are many ways in which we experience ourselves in relationships, many ways in which we deepen into intimacy and become lovers. There are many ways love moves us. There are many ways in which we marry, many ways in which we enter a temple, a devotion, a marriage. There are many ways in which we are mothers and fathers, nurturing the inner flames of another, so that they grow into their true self, maturity, and walk their true life’s path. Don’t limit yourself to just one expression of love and life. There are many ways.
