One of the most important aspects in astrology and our natal charts are Moon-Venus aspects; these often show how we will be experiencing and receiving love in our life, and our own ability to create and sustain a life of love, harmony and emotional connection.

Both our Moon and Venus are inner planets, meaning that they show the landscapes of our inner world and how we perceive and receive and allow and engage with the world outside of us. Our natal Moon rules the deepest part of ourselves, it is the lineage of our soul, it is the home of our heart and our sacred emotional world within which we often find comfort; she shows us how we understand love and relationships and our own ability to connect to someone on a deeper level, express our emotions and be nurturing.

As such, our natal Moon is often one of the keys to our happiness, or our ability to experience happiness, bond to someone or something and experience deeper intimacy not just with another person but also with ourselves, and with all of life.

Our natal Moon is also our inner deepest understanding of what our heaven is – because it is our beliefs that shape the heaven we live in right now. In Shamanic astrology, our natal Moon shows the lineage of our soul and where we may have come from, and it is the first thing we consider when analyzing a chart because it essentially opens the inner worlds of a native.

And what about Venus?

Our natal Venus shows us how we can experience pleasure and joy in life, she may show us our love expression and what we seek and desire, and she shows us our sense of self worth and inner abundance. Venus is quite misunderstood though because most people may only look at her surface and interpret her only in the realms of love, for example, what you seek in relationships depending on her sign, house and aspects.

She is much deeper than this – Venus is a language, an inner movement, and she connects to the higher spiritual expressions of our senses – to seek and embody something beyond the tangible and experience ourselves more deeply through our engagement with the external world. Venus is a high consciousness of love in her higher expression and rules the high heart.

Venus is also about reciprocity. She isn’t merely one to seek, desire and want to have; she seeks to give and interconnect and interdepend, which is how she becomes a love movement creating and sustaining something; she is the soil and the seeds and the flowers and the aromas.

Whatever you wish to receive you must give to others first. So in relationships, your Venus aspects show what you may be able or willing to give more naturally, thereby also showing what you may be more able or easily receive from another person and within relationships.

It is also about self reflection: If you Venus is in water, do you only seek water for yourself or do you nourish others with your water, so that your joined love lands are not dry? If in earth, do you offer stability to others or do they feel like walking on unstable soil where not much grows and it feels like earthquake? If in fire, do you burn others or do you lift them up, encourage them, nurture their own flames and belief in themselves? If in air, what air do people breathe around you, is it an environment of freedom to be themselves or do they feel judged?

As a spiritual astrologer I often describe Venus as a body in a dream state – how it gently moves through the night to put itself into more comfort and balance. This shows us that Venus is that which brings into balance all that isn’t yet. It also shows us that balance is not static, it is dynamic and ever moving.

Venus realizes her higher self in the dissolution of boundaries, illusions and entrapments; this is where her love becomes divine, of virtue, purity and selflessness. To come into her higher expression she needs to fully engage, in all giving, receiving, trust and allowing; while also, she needs her strong spiritually rooted foundations of self worth and boundaries. Venus knows all is a part of her, she is both divine and earth, stars and soil, and she is that which marries the spiritual, emotional and physical – embodied love.

In Shamanic astrology, Venus for a woman shows the goddess or higher feminine expression she is meant to embody in this life, where as for a man, she shows his inner beloved and the qualities he may need to embody within himself in order to be with and sustain a relationship with his right beloved.

A conjunction is essentially like a marriage, a union, a vow saying yes to one another, where two worlds meet, dissolve the boundaries between them and merge into one, creating something of deep powerful flow. As both the Moon and Venus are feminine spheres of consciousness and considered benefic, this creates a most beautiful union, which is considered one of the best and most blessed to have in a natal chart.

This conjunction blesses you with gentleness, tenderness, compassion, feminine energy, diplomacy, a pleasurable and charming aura, and ability to get along with people; this also gifts you immense creativity, mysticism and intuition, and an ability to flow in your inner rhythm and emotions.

In Shamanic astrology the conjunction between the Moon and Venus is considered so beautiful that there are celebrations whenever it happens in our sky also. It is seen as a time to celebrate the connection between the earthly and the divine, with rituals and ceremonies often performed during these transits to honour the natural rhythms and energies of the earth, while also bowing in humility and deep reverence to the divine sacred love and God.

The Moon and Venus conjunction in a natal chart shows a harmonious blend of emotional intuition and the desire for pleasure, beauty, and love. Natives with this aspect have deep love and appreciation for beauty and art, often have many creative talents, and are naturally drawn to creating a life filled with comfort, beauty, and harmonious relationships. They usually have the eyes needed to see beauty and love everywhere, and through their ability to do so they inspire others also.

There is emotional depth, artistic sensitivity, harmony in relationships, magnetic auras that draw to them others and what they need, a lot of charm and allure in their presence, peaceful natures, nurturing qualities, and desire for harmony, peace, comfort and pleasure.

Especially if the native with this conjunction has an evening Venus or are born with a new Moon or waxing crescent or during the night, this conjunction may often carry the higher expression of the goddess of love Aphrodite.

Our natal Venus can be either an evening or morning star, visible or invisible; and in her evening star expression she essentially carries the Aphrodite charm. She is mystical, magnetic, intuitive, beautiful, loving, and she shines brightly in our nightly sky as the brightest of stars – so she is revealing herself in all her beauty, while also keeping herself tucked in quietly among stars and lunar quietness.

This shows her introspective nature, and this is why she is deeply spiritual and rooted in her spiritual connection. As an evening star Venus with the Moon conjunct her, this creates a powerful feminine energy, mysticism, deep intuition and magnetism that pulls towards her all she dreams, needs and desires.

With which magnetism and pleasant tender harmonies qualities, many people will be drawn to Moon Venus conjunct natives – like bees to honey! And this is where you may need to be mindful if you have this conjunction.

Because of this allowing and sweet energy of yours, you need to set clear boundaries with people, so that you don’t fall into people pleasing nor stay in relationships or friendships which don’t serve your highest good. A very important thing to always keep in mind and ask yourself is: “Is this person good for me?” You may be good for them, but are they good for you? Life will invite you to shift the perspective and put yourself first, staying true to your heart, virtues and values.

Moon-Venus conjunctions do not like conflict at all; they will do everything possible to avoid it. Drama, impulsivity, conflict, harsh languages or tones of voice are not something that will resonate nor align with your energy, and it will either repulse you or will destabilize you and you’ll feel emotional discomfort, and in some cases, it may even lead you to physical symptoms like not feeling well etc.

You need to be mindful of this – set boundaries, avoid dramatic people or those who are into lower vibrations such as gossiping, judgements, criticism, harshness, and rudeness. Any time you feel a bit down in your day or life, look towards recharging your energy with something feminine and beautiful – it will soothe you emotionally and physically. It can be art, music, photography, poetry, or just go for walk, take a nice bath, re-organize your closet, put on some lotion, or just browse beautiful things. It is also nice to have beautiful things to look at in your home and keep things clean and harmonious.

Natal Moon Venus conjunction often gifts and blesses the native with the gift of emotional depth, nurturing and creativity. The Moon is our heart and deepest part of us, the most sacred and most private, so here is the gift of the private emotional lover’s cocoon, in which you will move in love and deep intimacy and sweetness.

Creativity will be ever expanding through your merging with love, and here intimacy becomes all encompassing, physical, spiritual, emotional and intellectual. In turn, your gift to the world is your sweetness and ability to create beauty and understanding, as people feel loved in your presence and safe enough to be themselves, and you beautify all around you, as well as give it dimension and depth.

In romantic relationships, Moon conjunct Venus gives a lot of potential for happiness and fulfillment, because they seek to truly blend and merge with their beloved, and they are open enough to share of themselves and to create the intimacy a relationship desires and seeks. Conjunctions create a lot of focus and devotion into something, so these natives become very passionate about whatever or whomever they love.

There is really nothing bad to say about this, as Moon conjunct Venus is perhaps the sweetest aspect to have in a natal chart, but the only thing is to be mindful of people pleasing tendencies and learning to set boundaries, because their sweet generous loving nature seeks and loves harmony, and this may sometimes make them too adaptable or compromising with people who don’t deserve their kindness and generosity. They can have people take advantage of their kindness and generosity, as Moon conjunct Venus are very generous souls, so they need to be discerning and not be hesitant to walk away from what no longer serves them.

Of course, as all else in astrology this aspect depends on all else in your natal chart, as well as the sign and house and other aspects to it. In more feminine signs and energies like the water sign of Cancer, which is lunar and ruled by the goddess Moon, and if this receives harmonious aspects from other planets also without any harsh ones, then this would be the highest expression of this conjunction.

If however, the Moon and Venus are receiving some harsher aspects from other planets or in a bit more difficult placement or house, then you may need to awaken these higher expressions with a bit more effort. Or if it is a Saturnian Moon, like a Capricorn Moon or a Moon or Venus receiving Saturn aspects, then you may need to open up a bit more because emotionally you may be a bit more closed off and there is a need for more vulnerability and trust in your emotional expression and sensitivity especially in relationships.

Or, if the conjunction is happening in a sign like Aries, which is cardinal fire, there may be a need to tame the impulsivity or indulgence, and to be more selfless and devoted. As the cardinal fires of Aries flow through the masculine energies, this may sometimes manifest as a bit more of an aggressive or impulsive outward expression as perceived by others around you. It’s not that you are “masculine” as a woman with this aspect in Aries, it is just a different expression, but in Shamanic astrology this is often the archetype of the amazon or wild woman! So there is a free spirit here which you should appreciate in yourself, and lots of amazing qualities, it’s just about being mindful that sometimes you may come across a bit more forward than necessary and you may need to be more attentive, considerate and mindful of other people’s sensitivities and unique emotional expressions.

There is a masculine path or expression and a feminine path or expression for all the signs. Each of these also has various levels, speeds, shapes, rhythms, many gradations and variations.

The fire and air paths, which are the masculine expressions, are moving toward spirit; and the earth and water paths, which are the feminine expressions, are descending into the physical and emotional.

On the path of fire and air are essentially the spiritual lessons of detachment from physical and material ego desires, and detach from the entrapment of the lower urges. This path is about transcending these and shifting your eyes towards God and developing spiritually. It is about spiritual growth, consciousness expansion and refinement of spirit, developing the virtues and being in service and selflessness. In this life they need to learn to separate the pure from the impure.

The water and earth paths of the feminine pathways are different: it is about bringing spirit into matter. These are already spiritual initiations that they come through in this incarnation, so they are meant to experience themselves through the physical and material rather than live in renunciation.

The water and earth paths are more tantric paths. The fire and air paths are here to look at the maya as the grand illusion and free themselves from it, so it is only spiritual growth that may lead them to enlightenment as well as conscious detachment from the material, lower urges and ego entrapments.

On the other hand, the water and earth as the tantric paths are here to look at the maya not necessarily as an escape or detachment but rather, as a dance. They already understand it is maya – but they are now here to look at this life we are living as the dance, and they reach enlightenment through learning to dance. Essentially, the water and earth paths are about full emersion, dancing and mastering the energy.

Naturally, the Moon and Venus conjunction carries the rhythm and movement of the feminine path, which is why it is about embodied love.

Love becomes your heaven, and a land you live in and thrive in. It needs to be nurturing, nourishing, harmonious, generous, loving, peaceful, understanding, compassionate, gentle, tender, graceful and spiritually rooted and aligned. There is creativity here, so life becomes art, love is art.

Through your movements and rhythms love embodies itself and through you others feel this softness, kindness and patience of rhythm. There is inspiration here also with this beautiful union because you in-spirit love into your life and in its highest expression, you become the hands of love, lips of love, gestures of love, infusing landscapes and temperatures with warmth, and moving the hearts of others with the spirit of love, faith and goodness.

Time exists only due resistance, so when there is no resistance it’s as if we experience timelessness. Love is where there is no resistance, so in love, through love and of love, we experience timelessness. Love exists outside of time, outside of limitations. This is why we feel like time stops when we are deeply present into a moment with a loved one.

In its higher expression the union of Moon and Venus creates a flow of trust and surrender, of allowing, openness, willingness and giving. We are all here to learn to love; to build our capacity within us to love, to contain love and emit love through our embodied every day in each seemingly ordinary gesture along the circling staircases of life.

An aspect in a natal chart will not show whether you can do that or not, it shows pathways and potentials, but these need to be lived out. The humble truth is that it is only up to us as individuals to consciously choose to become more conscious and love consciously with an awakened heart.
